Acquire the IP Address Automatically Using DHCP (Recommended) radio button:
Select this radio button to acquire IP address settings automatically if your access point/wireless router supports DHCP.
DHCP -- Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol is a protocol that assigns dynamic IP addresses to devices on a network.
For details, refer to the documentation provided with your access point/wireless router.
Set the IP Address Manually (Advanced) radio button:
Select this radio button to enter the IP address settings manually.
- IP Address:
Using a same IP address for multiple devices may cause a communication error. IP address settings for the printer should follow the settings of the computer connected to the printer. Follow the steps below to check the computer's IP address settings.
For Windows users
1. Click Start, right-click the My Network Places icon, and then click Properties.
2. Right-click the Local Area Connection icon and click Properties. Double-click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
For Macintosh users
1. From the Apple menu, select System Preferences.
2. Click the Network icon.
3. Select an appropriate setting for your environment, then click TCP/IP tab.
The factory default IP address is 192.168.192.168. To use this IP address, erase the address once, and then enter the same address again.
- Subnet Mask:
Check the IP address for your computer. 255.255.255.0 is normally set for small-scale networks.
- Default Gateway:
Check the IP address for your computer. You cannot use 255.255.255.255 as a default gateway.
